Sterling Silver

  • 925 Sterling Silver is a lightweight metal made of 92.5% pure silver, whereas the remaining 7.5% can be made up of other metals - most commonly copper. It is highly durable and designed for everyday wear.

  • CLUB LUX’s sterling silver pieces are stamped with the 925 mark - indicating the purity of the metal.

  • Most of Club Lux’s sterling silver pieces are rhodium plated. This Luxurious member of the platinum family provides an extremely tough and protective layer against tarnishing for durability.

Why Rhodium Plated Sterling Silver Jewellery

  • By plating sterling silver with rhodium, tarnishing can be avoided and the piece of jewellery remains white and lustrous much longer.

  • Rhodium plated sterling silver has an extra shine and whiteness which lasts longer than if the piece were not plated.

  • Rhodium is a hard metal unlike silver which is quite soft. Rhodium plating reduce the likelihood of the piece gaining scratches, making the piece more resistant to scratches.

  • Rhodium Plating is hypoallergenic and because it acts as a barrier between the base metal and the wearer’s skin, it is a good way to reduce the risk of allergic reactions.

Stainless Steel

  • Stainless steel is an affordable material to create hypoallergenic and resistant pieces of jewellery. Stainless steel is more resistant than gold and silver.

  • Stainless steel is offered in different quality grades. We use 316L grade which is nickel free, lead free and cadmium free.

  • More over, stainless steel is water resistant and doesn't tarnish. You will be pleased to know that plating colours used on stainless steel are also hypoallergenic and more resistant than plating used on cheap jewellery.

  • Stainless steel jewellery is eco-friendly and 100% recyclable. This is because stainless steel manufacturers avoid using too much primary energy and save non-renewable sources.

Metal Sensitivity

  • If you are sensitive to copper or brass then you should not purchase brass based jewellery and instead opt for our 925 Sterling Silver jewellery and 316L Stainless Steel Jewellery.

  • Nickel is a trace metal that can be found in silver, gold, or any other precious metals. While we don't craft with nickel or add it to our pieces, trace amounts may be found in certain metals we use.

  • As a customer, please ensure all precautions are taken as we are unable to know each individual's allergies and sensitives. Alternatively, please feel free to contact us and we are happy to help.

Gold Plated vs Gold Vermeil, Which one is better?

One key factor based on which these two forms of gold jewellery vary: the amount of gold present in them.

  • Gold plated jewellery contains the least amount of Gold amongst all the different types of gold finishes, usually around 0.07 to 0.17 microns.
  • For jewellery to be considered vermeil, the gold coating needs to be at least 2.5 microns thick, which makes the piece heavily plated and a rich gold colour.
  • Gold plated jewellery pieces are afforable and budget friendly, those looking for everyday light jewellery can go with Gold plated pieces.
  • If you want a slightly more costly but highly durable piece of jewellery made with a considerable amount of solid Gold, Gold Vermeil will never let you down.

How to Wear, Store and Care

  • The more intentional you are about caring for your jewellery, the longer it will last. To prevent scratching and tarnish as much as possible, we recommend that you remove your jewellery when engaging in some activities such as showering, bathing or swimming, using lotion, hair products, fragrances and other cosmetics, exercising at the gym or during contact sports etc. As a general care tip, your jewellery should be the last thing you put on before going out and the first thing you remove upon coming home.

  • When not being worn, store in a safe, dry place to protect against the elements of daily exposure. Store pieces separately to avoid damage. Ensure pieces are completely dry before storing. Sterling silver can be prone to tarnishing. We recommend storing your pieces in an airtight jewellery box/ziplock bag that makes care and cleaning even easier.

  • Proactive maintenance is the best way to prolong the lifespan of sterling silver. Regularly cleaning your pieces helps to avoid the residue build up that dull the original shine. Clean by wiping with a soft, damp cloth. To remove tarnish, buff gently with a silver polish cloth. Ultrasonic cleaners are safe to use on silver jewellery.

How to Keep Your Gold-Plated Jewellery from Fading

Gold-plated jewellery is a popular choice for its elegant appearance and affordability. However unlike solid gold jewelry, gold plated as a metal will eventually tarnish over time with wear. Exposure to moisture or acidic food ingredient such as tomatoes will speed up this process. Here are some helpful tips to keep your ring looking its best Follow these tips to prevent fading and keep it looking stunning for longer.

  • Keep away from harsh chemicals -

One of the primary reasons and most underestimated enemy of gold-plated jewellery fades is exposure to harsh chemicals. Avoid wearing your gold-plated jewellery when using cleaning agents, beauty products, or while swimming in chlorinated pools. Chemicals can erode the gold layer, causing it to fade or even completely wear off. The most common cause of fading we have encountered is hand cream. If you are using hand cream make sure the hand is completely & 100% dry before wearing your ring.

  • Store Properly -

When you're not wearing your gold-plated jewellery, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Exposure to sunlight and humidity can accelerate the fading process. Consider using a jewellery box or a soft pouch to protect your jewellery from scratches and prevent contact with air, which can cause oxidation.

  • Avoid Water Exposure -

While gold-plated jewellery can handle occasional exposure to water, it is best to remove it before showering, swimming, or doing the dishes. Prolonged contact with water, especially if it contains chemicals or minerals, can cause the gold layer to fade or tarnish over time.

Individual Body Chemistry

Our skin's chemistry is as unique as our fingerprint. This individuality contributes to the variation in how fast gold plating fades. The acidity and composition of sweat, in combination with the pH level of our skin, can either extend or diminish the life of the gold plating. Those with higher skin acidity might experience quicker fading, as the chemicals in sweat can react with the golden layer on your gold plated rings, gold plated earrings & sustainable hoops. This is why two people wearing the same gold plated ring may experience different rates of fading.

In conclusion, the varying durability of gold plated jewellery is influenced by individual body chemistry and exposure to moisture and chemicals. At CLUB LUX Jewellery, we're committed to crafting sustainable jewellery that not only embodies elegance but also endures. Our gold plating technique ensures that your gold plated rings and other pieces retain their radiance, symbolizing both style and sustainability.
